 Normal top end RPMS?
Checked the rpms wot in neutral appear to be good at 4170. In water 2 men , 6-8gal gas tank getting 3450-3500rpm. Speeds around 24-25mph. With only me i can get 3600-3670 and gain a mph or two. Just curious if these rpms and speeds seem normal? Rig is a 1848 GTB w/ stock 35GT motor.

 Re: Normal top end RPMS?
You should be seeing closer to 4000 rpms when running light. When you are running is the prop about half out of the water when its trimmed up?If not try moving the pin to the middle hole.

 Re: Normal top end RPMS?
Hey Wagg, I was running between 3800 and 3870 in bottom hole when my motor was stock. Moved to middle hole and got all the way to 4000 trimmed all the way up. I now have mods, tried the lower and went back to the middle. Running about 4200 rpm trimmed down a little. Trimmed all the way up, I get close to 4400.

 Re: Normal top end RPMS?
waggman,
Are you using a GPS to determine speed? The GPS won't lie...just keep playing with trim until you get the best results.
I have always found best speed to be at 3800-3900 RPMs at my altitude, but much to my surprise, my Prodrive / Phowler runs fastest lightly loaded at 4050 RPMs. In the old boats I would have lost bite trimming up to hit 4050 RPM.
The GPS showed me...the GPS won't lie.
