How high should my rpms be?
I have a 23hp vanguard and at wot in the water my tach reads 3100, and is only runnin 12 mph... Should my rpms be higher? By the way its a long tail so my speeds arent that large of a cocern however i think it should run it a little faster... Thanks for any help! New to mud motors so maybe dumb question??

Re: How high should my rpms be?
i would say that is slow for your motor and just slightly low rpms, you need to check your prop to see if it is the correct one for that motor

just guessing a 9x5, you can look at go devil website for a longtail that matches yours and see what they package there units with, it would be a start

Re: How high should my rpms be?
My buddy has the same model boat with a 24 Honda Beavertail. I think he runs 17-18 by himself and 15 with another adult.
Could be one of two issues. Prop is too big, or throttle/gov connections at the back of the motor need to be tweaked.
What was your load when you were only running 12? 6 adults?
