Post subject: | Engine Fuse Corrosion |
Anyone had a corrosion problem on a fuse on the engine? Was getting my stuff ready tonight for a morning hunt and decided to just start my engine to check things out. Turned the key and nothing, not even a click. The trim worked fine, but nothing as far as the motor starting. After going into a panic mode, I found the fuse on the motor was very corroded. I cleaned to fuse holder and changed the fuse. Starts fine now. The fuse holder is supposed to be sealed, but it appeared to be getting very wet. I sprayed it down with some penetrating oil in hopes that this will help. Just thought I'd post this in case someone else runs into the same issue. |

I spray cosmoline on all electrical components to keep them clean and free of corrosion. It also last alot longer than spray oil! |

You can get the grease at any auto parts store. It's near the batteries. Isn't cosmoline that shit they cover guns in to preserve them? |

I normally use the electric grease when I'm reconnecting or doing electrical maintenace, but because the age of my motor I had no plans on working on electrical connections. I guess in the near future I'm going to check and grease all the electrical connections. |

I've had it happen once before, scraped the fuse with my knife and it fired right up. |

Dow 111 noncureing silicone. its alot heavier than most dielectrics and can hold up to higher temps without melting off. |
