 23 Mudbuddy running high rpms
I have a 23 mbsd and just put a carb on it. Havent put the rev limiter on yet but I ran it and the rpms running in the water were as much as I wanted 4500 or 4600 or until the valves start floating. Do I need to gear my motor to drop my rpms? And I'm not so sure about the rain while I'm running it. Do the covers that bps make work? If so I can build some myself. Thanks in advance!

Re: 23 Mudbuddy running high rpms
Drop down a tooth or 2 on the bottom gear, might also have an inch or 2 of pitch added to the prop. Either or both will bring down rpms, assuming the prop isn't already worn out.
The pre-filters work good enough for a light rain, but if you're like us & still out hunting in the sqwalls, then you need to get some kind of rain shield, anything will help. The metal shield MB used to sell was bad about tearing the filters. I'd stay away from that style.
