 27hp Kohler
I have a 27hp Kohler. The muffler is getting cherry red on one side. I cannot figure out for the life of me what is wrong. I need some help. I have checked all the gas lines to make sure there is no cracks. Help please.

 Re: 27hp Kohler
The heat probably represents a lean condition. Is it where the tube leaves the cylinder head? What does the plug on that cylinder look like?

 Re: 27hp Kohler
Randy, may be onto something. If it is just glowing on that one side you may be running lean on that side OR you may be running FAT (rich) on the other side. It really isn't uncommon for these engines to run exhaust hot enough to glow so I wouldn't jump on the lean bandwagon too quick. As Randy suggest pull the plugs and take a look. Maybe take a good closeup picture of both and post back here.
Are you running a stock carb, heads and exhaust? More info please.

 Re: 27hp Kohler
I just noticed this problem starting to happen on my 27 gdsd. The port side of the exhaust turns cherry red after only a few minutes of running. I'm running the bps Q muffler, other than that everything is stock. Im making a hunt in the morning. After I'm finished I'll see if i can pull the plugs and take some pictures to post here.
