What surface drive should i get for a 1436 fisher jon boat?
I have a 1436 fisher jon boat with a 6.5 beavertail that tops out at about 8 when its empty. I want to replace it with the fastest surface drive i can. What should i put on it?

If you don't want reverse neutral hydraulic stuff, get copperhead

Would an 18 mud buddy push it any faster than a copperhead?

If you go 18 may as well go 23. A buddy had an 18 mini on a 1436. I wasn't impressed with the performance. We ended up adding a 1' hunt deck on the back. I think I would go for a 12 or 18 hp copperhead over the 18 MB mini.

18hp copperhead doesnt weigh but 140 pounds so that would give you the most hp with the least weight

I have a 1977 14-36 with a 23hp sd it runs around 23 loaded and 25 empty. Its ripping the hell out of that old boat. But it runs great you might want to get pods on the back to hold some of the weight. What i like the most is starting out in the shallows.Jumps up on plane fast as hell.

Cipperhead 18 would be the best for the beat price ur boat should run around 25 no problem with the 18 copperhead
