18 HP Vanguard on Go - Devil
I am having trouble with the engine powering up fully when the prop is submerged. When out of water the engine, cranks and runs well, by sound you cannot imagine a problem until putting the prop in water and the engine still runs properly just does not fully power up to get boat on plane. I had the carburetor replaced and all new fuel lines and fuel filter the first of November. We did get some gas with some water in it. We have disposed of this gas, gotten new gas added a fuel additive run for approximately 2 hours and are still having problems. The only thing else I have noticed is that the self lubricator on shaft is cracked a leaking a little grease, is this related to the problem? Does the shaft build up pressure that puts the load to the engine. When I first got out of shop for first month of season it ran great! Any thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appresciated so I can back to trying to bang some ducks while on christmas break.
Thanks Mike
