 boat setup?
I have a 17x44 gator trax with a 32 pd on it and I was just wanting to see what kinds of speed other people are getting with this same or similar setup. My boat with just me in it and nothing else will only run about 20 and I was just wondering if that sounds about right for this rig or should I be getting more speed out of it than that.

 Re: boat setup?
I don't really understand why it isn't any faster than it is. The only reason that I can figure that it doesn't run very fast is because I may need to get a new prop for it since the motor has 290 hours on it and the original prop but I just don't think it would make that much of a difference but I really don't know.

 Re: boat setup?
getting a huge difference! you will see better speeds as well as a drop in rpm's and at 290 hrs it sounds like a new prop is long over due, the new prop will definetly be worth it

 Re: boat setup?
If you have 290 hrs on a prop and you use it like these motors are designed to be used, your prop is toast. A new one will make all the difference in the world. I go through at least one prop a season, sometimes two, for perspective.

 Re: boat setup?
I'm running 1650 HD Gator Trax with 36 PD. By myself running 25 deep.
Are you running tall or short transom? Originally had a 21" transom but PD recommends 19.5. Had PD trim transom and picked up about 3 to 5 mph everything else the same.
If you put your motor in reverse and it hits the boat that could be stealing speed.
That many hours though I'd change prop before anything else.

 Re: boat setup?
At 290 hours, I'd say you are more than likely in need of a new prop.
I would also recommend setting your valves and doing a compression check just to make sure you are not losing any powere elsewhere.

 Re: boat setup?
I figured that I was in need of a new prop but I just wasn't real sure cuz I don't ever run my motor through What most people that have one do cuz I'm located in north Florida on lake Seminole and there's just nothing but grass and the occasional shallow mud bottom but most of the time it's a hard sand bottom once you break through the muck. I'm gonna try to measure the prop in the next day or two to see what the length is from tip to tip and I'm also gonna try to post a picture of it to see what everyone thinks cuz in my neck of the woods you hardly ever see a Prodrive on a boat so it's kinda hard to ask for help when nobody around me has one so any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated.

 Re: boat setup?
That mud/sand mix will get ya, that's what we have here. In 60 something hours, my once 12" prop now measures 10 7/8" tip to tip.

 Re: boat setup?
Thanks for all of yalls help it is greatly appreciated and I will be getting a new prop on my motor after this duck season and hopefully I can get some more speed and power out of my boat. But for now I'm just concerned with getting my motor running right again cuz it just starting messing up by not wanting to run at all so for now I've gotta take it to someone who can figure out what's wrong with it.
