a stock carb. I have a relatively new PD, with about 14 hours on it. It has the 45 Mag mods, but through PVT. I have notiuced that the choke seems to just flood the motor, and so I have not been using it. Then the motor started to struggle when I would engage the clutch, RPM's would drop, and the motor would almost die. I turned the idle up a little (about 1250-1350) and this worked for a while, but then I had the same problem today. So I took off the air filter and I noticed that the butterfly attached to the choke was only about 3/4 open even theough the choke was not engaged. I loosned the bolt and pulled the cable so when the choke is not engaged, the choke butterfly is fully open. I then re-tightened the bolt to the cable. I checked, and when the choke was engaged the butterflies closed, and then when the choke was disengaged it fully opened (which beofore it stayed partly closed). What should the difference be when I run it now that this is fixed? Does it make sense that this was the problem? |

No input... I am not sure what the side effects should have been of the choke partly engaged at all times...Run rich, limit air flow and foul my plugs. Anything else? Just trying to figure out if I will even notice a difference....or signs that I have should have noticed while running...Thanks for the input... |

If it was only 1/4 closed when it should have been open, you probably were just burning more gas than needed and running slightly rich. Have you ran it yet? If you have too much fuel for the amount of air coming in, yes it will bog down, similar to running with the choke on but not as bad. Hope this helps, Rod |
