Was considering getting these heads, the BPS 1.5 Roller Rockers, and Heavy duty push rods. Now Is this something that I can do or will I have to bring it in some where? I live in Wis. and there is no one really that I know of that has done this kind of work before. I don't have any mods done on the motor right now, and was considering getting this or a MM exhaust. What would you guys recommend I do? Get the exhaust or the heads? What kind of gains would I get with the heads and can I leave the pistons stock? thanks. |

yep this is just a bolt on mod... if your handy around motors this should be no problem there are detail instructions on how to do this on BPS site... IMHO I would get the exhaust 1st since the stock exhaust sucks and it can rust out crack and cause all kinds of problems... then I would get heads... and you don't have to do anything with the pistons to run IM heads... I don't know what kind of gain you will get since I don't have heads on my motor... I went the other direction and did the internals 1st... I gain nothing but bottom end... |

Wether you can do it or not depends on your tool box and mechanical ability, but on a scale from 1-10 I'd give it about a 4. Nothing super techincal (all of the machine work has already been done), but you will need a torque wrench, feeler gauge, and a handful of metric tools (sockets/wrenches) to do the job. Per the rocker arms and push rods, they will make the motor run quieter and smoother, but are not necessary to install the heads.........I do recomend them if you install a cam. As far as what gains you will get when you install the heads, that is probably the hardest thing to predict because you never know exaclty how bad your stock valves are not seating. Some people get massive gains (because their stock valves were leaking very bad), some not so much, but everyone will agree that your load carrying ability and bottom end does improve very well. |

Oh and in regards to the exhaust, the stock exhaust is garbage. Enormous ammount of failures with them, some of which have done damage to the engine block.............get an aftermarket one. |

Don't mean to jack a thread. But in order to install iron mountain heads are the aftermarket roller rockers and push rods needed? |

My stock exhaust is still in good condition, I only have about 70hrs on it. Can I get the heads and get the exhaust at a later date? Or should I get the exhaust first and get the heads at a later date? Do you know where I can get a manual on how to install the heads before I order them? Thanks |

They dont install any different than installing a set of stock heads, so you can buy a service manual at any briggs dealer and read up on it. I sell them here if you would like me to ship you one, and I sell for $25. Or, when I sell a set of heads I can copy the 2 pages out of the service manual with the technical data that you will need. |

Exhaust first cause if you do heads first you won't hardly see a gain with stock exhaust, you got to get that air out |
