My advice is if you buy the styx river stencils, buy 2 sets. They get loaded up w/ paint and they're not easy to clean as you go along. I painted my hull w/ the shadow grass and mine came out good but the 1 above came out much cleaner.

Don't sandblast. Just scuff it up with sandpaper and make sure you get all the loose paint off then clean it good and apply new paint

X3 Sand blasting also makes the bottom of the boat rough and causes loss of speed!

These paint jobs look fantastic. Question: On the camo paint on the engines, doesn't that sh*t get hot and burn or somoke? I know you don't do the pipes, but even some of the other parts.. sure look great though. Not sure how you get the stencil pattern so well defined in all the nooks and crannies? Outdrive is easy(er).

I'm sending mine off in a few months to get repainted. Going to go with a clear coat like many others have done.

Clear coat?? Please explain..

Post subject:  Re: CAMO PAINT JOB

Some camo places throw a protective coating on there that sort of looks like clear coat i have it on my boat, very easy to wash mudd off and it looks real nice, not a whole lot of glare when hunting.

Camo Designs uses a satin clear on most boats.

It's all in the technique of how you spray it that determines how glossy or flat it comes out in the end.

I was also wondering about the paint on the engine itself. Was wanting to paint my prodrive but wasnt sure if I needed to use some sort of heat paint. Haven't really seen any of the the colors that u would want for camp in a heat paint.

Yeah I know. I just figured if you had a flat clear that it would be flat when applied regardless of technique.

Post subject:  Re: CAMO PAINT JOB

When you spray the flat clears if you don't get a completely even coat it can look a little glossier in certain areas.
