Make sure they've improved the shaft and seals

the seals hes refering to were used in the first few 12hp models. There is now and has been a weed gaurd that protects the seals and bearings from vegitation wrapping around the prop shaft inbetween the prop and prop shaft housing. Not one failure on the new design.

A friend of mine had a 10 hp and it was a bad ass lil motor untill you hit sand or weeds and there goes the seals. He brought it to the shop 2 maybe 3 times and was suppose to be fixed the new way but still messed up

Thats gonna be a sweet lil setup, the smaller sd's perform very well on wider bottom boats while loaded.
