I want to hook up 2 12 volts to my motor. One will be for my trolling motor. Can I start my motor with 2 batteries? Will the CDI keep up with both?

you would need two of the same exact batteries and wire them parallel... positive to positive and negative to negative...

the motor wouldnt know the difference but you would have more cranking amps and amp hours with two batteries wired to provide 12 volts.

You should try to match the batteries to being the same age, size, brand, and type as well, or use an isolator so they are not connected to each other unless the motor is running.

If one holds a charge better than the other or holds a little more voltage, they will try to charge each other and wear each other down when the motor is not running.

To answer the OP, yeah you can do it. "Will the motor keep up?" Depends what you are drawing on the batts. It will charge 20a at idle and 50a at WOT, so as long as that is enough to keep up with what you are running, yeah it will keep up. The motor doesn't care whether it's hooked up to 1 batt or 10, long as everything is wired properly it's gonna output that 20-50a no matter what. If it's hooked to 2 batts, the current will be split between the two. Evenly if both batts have the same resistance.
