Post prodrive shutting off when getting on plane
My prodrive was dieing out the other day when trying to get on plane. It did this to me once before with a heavy load. This particular time the boat(3man gatorhide with 3 guys and fishing gear) did fine all morning with no hiccups. in the afternoon when moving locations the motor would fire right up and right before it would plane out the motor would just die. I had to pump the bulb to get it restarted which would happen immediately after priming. I would then take off with no problems. We would stop and fish awhile then the same thing the next time I tried to take off. The tank is 9 gallons and we burned approx 5.5 gallons on the whole trip. It seemed like it wasn't getting fuel. It would die when the motor was under the max strain. Motor is stock with 450 hrs and runs like a top! Deep water take offs only. Any ideas?

Fuel delivery problem. I changed my fuel tank connectors to a Suzuki/Chrysler type and fixed mine. I was told the Bulb might be leaking down, or just need an Electric Pump. All could be correct.

Happened to me before, pulled the mechanical fuel pump and tightened down all the screws inside. They loosened up over time and allowed air to leak in. Once it was all tightened down it worked fine.

yes it did it before I did this but only on two occasions that I can recall. I ran it after changing out the fuel line and it did fine. The three times that I recall it doing this the load was heavy, and it would shut down when the motor was bogged down before getting on step. Like I said i had to pump the bulb a few times to get it started. It fires right up after pumping the bulb and then gets on step no problem. After stopping to fish awhile it would do the same thing when we tried to take off. All three times it did it late in the trip when the tank was not full. It seems that it happens when the tank gets a little low. During duck season we never burn more than a few gallons so we didn't encounter the problem. Could it be a fuel pick up issue with the tank?
