I think I screwed up my first post so I'll try this again. I bought a Beavertail longtail with a 24 hp Honda for $350, so I don't think I did that bad. My question is what should I have for compression. The marina I bought it from said it had low compression on the left cylinder and the right was a little lower than what it should be. When I got home I pulled the plugs and they were coated with a ton of carbon. I Changed plugs and ran some seafoam through it for awhile and it came back to life. I haven't check compression since I got it home. I will also do a leak down tomorrow. Thanks ahead of time for your help. BTW where is the best place to buy parts for this Honda?

Well I ran the valves to day. To start the intake on the right side was so tight that it wasn't letting the valve seat (which would cause lower compression). The exhaust was at about .012. On the left side the intake was at .010 and the exhaust was to tight. Reset them and it runs like a champ. I ran a compression test with 90+ on the left side but about 80 on the right side.
So what should I do? leave it and keep an eye on it next season or pull the head and try to fix the problem now?

Per Honda shop manual 90 psi is stock

It's your call personally I'd pull the heads send em to EVT or SETX for port and polish possibly shaved a bit
But if that's not in your budget run it like you stole it 8-)
