36 pd. it's starting in gear without the clutch engaged. It is just barely catching, it makes a pretty loud screach. The clutch still engages just like it should, I unplugged the momentary switch to rule that out but it still is catching.

This just happened suddenly the other night on the river.

Any ideas to try before I call kp tomorrow?

check the bottom wires on the switch

Sounds like the clutch is bad.

Check the tension bands to see if any are bent/twisted (the ss straps underneath the bottom of the clutch that attach the clutch to the to adaptor that goes to the lower unit drive shaft).

boatDR, do you sell clutches for PD, Gt's and MB's? And if so, a general idea on price? Thanks.

Wires and connections all look good from what I can see.

The straps all look good. They all have a bend in them but it looks like that is how it's made.

Where should the green wire go that comes out of the clutch engagement switch? It is not hooked up on the motor side.

Not sure this pic will work. You can see then bent bands here.

Bent tension bands = bad clutch.

Must be replaced.

And judging from what I see there. Any chance you raced the rpm's up and shifted it into gear? That sure looks like what happens when you shift a motor into gear at too high of rpm's.

That could be the case, the motor was running bad at one time and it needed a little extra acceleration to keep it from dying when going in gear. That is fixed now though.

Looks like it will be a new clutch.

I really appreciate the quick replies an help!

KP will cut you a real deal on one. Cost plus cost again devided by 2 and multiply by three plus tax. Sounds about right...

Oh, forgot the 65 dollars for shipping and 10 dollars for handleing....
