These air cooled engines have a fan mounted on the flywheel that draws air in and moves it over the heads & block.

If ALL the major brands are going w/ the same basic design on their units it probably isn't a fluke. ;)

I know, but just because you're stopped doesn't mean it's not getting any air flow. That was all I was saying. Anything can overheat, but especially a liquid cooled engine.

If it was a PD frame, take a 115 outboard motor and water cool it and it would be a badass motor.

A liquid cooled engine has a good bit less power loss than an air cooled one
I believe an air cooled engine runs at about 25% efficency or in that neighborhood... not sure what a liquid cooled is.

I ran a 29 EFI Kawi for years... but to be honest with you your going to want a temp gauge... I had no clue my water pump went out and I cracked a head.... the motor just blew... best thing that ever happened to me...lol 2 weeks later I had a 35 briggs sitting in my drive way... I never had any problems with my hoses or sensors and for the first 3 years the motor sat out in the driveway in the dessert heat and sun... I did have problems with the fan blades... but that was because the radiator mounts couldn't support and on hard impacts the fan and radiator would hit... 3 radiators all under warranty later Kawi told me to pound sand so I had to shim my radiator and this never happened agian...
