I was replacing the crankcase gasket on my 35hp and the governor gear shaft snapped as I hadn't had it properly aligned. Two questions - 1.) I had read somewhere that you don't actually need that governor gear and if so what should I do with the rest of the shaft? 2.) If I do need the governor gear then do I need a whole new back unit for my crankcase or can I relace the shaft somehow?

You don't need the governor gear if you have a single mikuni carb with electronic rev limiter.

yup time to scrap the govenor buy and but a carb kit
