I have an 07 Mud buddy 27hp Kohler with 166hrs.

The carb is over flowing when I pump the bubble and is also dumping gas into it when the motor it leaning back.

Another prob im having is that I pulled the valve covers off and 3 of my push rods are bent. What could be causing that to happen?

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like your float in the carb needs to be set.

Whens the last time you you set your valve gap? Were they really loose which caused them to get bent?

How do u set the float?
I bought the motor with 150hrs on it back in august and never thought to check any of that.

Are you familiar with carbs at all? You will have to take the float bowl off and first inspect the inlet needle of any wear by taking the float out of the carb. If that is good put the float and inlet needle back in and tip your carb upside down and see how the float is sitting. you can bend the tab the inlet needle is on either way to allow more fuel or less. I'd really look at the needle for wear however.

Valve lash does not need to be set on the kohler. Torque the rocker studs to 100 inch lbs. Only reason they would be loose or have play is if the lifters are not functioning properly or the rocker stud was backed off somehow. Don't know why the push rods are bent though unless you are overrevving the motor.

I've pulled the carb apart and cleaned everything and everything looked good, but I'll check it again.

I'm going to order some new push rods this week.

As far as me over reving the engine I've got it up to 4000 rpm a few times but now very long. I run my motor around 3600 rpms.

Those push rods should take close to 5k. You buy the motor new? Nobody has ever messed with the rockers?
