do you have a marine grade engine(cdi) or a regular briggs vanguard with a rev limiter installed?

you need to get a rev limiter put on it. 4600 is what I have on mine. prob. looking at 43- 4400 wide open in the water with your setup.

who did you buy the motor from? it has a bb mikuni adapter on it. I would keep it under 4500 rpm. Just be careful running a givashiter.

One of my buddies out of Morgan city he told me keep it around 4200 but I just wanted to see what everyone else was running with mods done to their motors
What is a givashifter

less RPM = longer life

Personally I wouldnt run it above 4300, 4400 MAX

man you need the cable braces for that carb. It goes on the side of the valve cover and holds the cable in place. I honestly don't know how it works without it.

When the motor is in the water your ok without a rev limiter it's when you hit something and the motor comes out the water is when you pray!!
