I just put a BPS cam in my motor. I took the governor shaft and gear out, set valves, etc. When I crank the motor it makes a whining sound. I am unsure of where this sound is coming from. I dont believe it is coming from the cam. Could it be a bad bearing in the crankcase cover? Has anyone ever had this happen?
Thanks

I heard of it once when the bolt blocking off the gov gearshaft hole was a lil too long and was rubbing the gears

You did put assembly lube on everything you could get your hands on while you were in there, right? How long has the motor run? Long enough to get a good coat of oil on everything?

You installed the parts right? Why not see if you can figure it out? Pop the sump cover off and see whats up.

Your issue is more than likely coming from outside of the engine...such as the drive itself.

autogateman and other engine builders on this site. why would u stick a bolt with washers lock washers locking nuts and sealer. when all u have to do is take a pipe tap and tap it and use a pipe plug. ? a much better fix and alot safer.

Now that I typed that out, I guess you could put a cup under the hole to catch em. still, that was the reason I was given.
