when you get a set of heads (like BPS Iron Mtn.) heads, how good is the seal supposed to be between valve and head surface out of the box? If you take them out of the package, is it ok to see light where it seals if you hold it up to a light? Not an issue for me, just curious.

Between the valve and the valve seat? If so you should not see any light

Send them back and demand a refund ASAP!!

Call Calen's Engine Service and get a set through him.

I've seen and heard of SEVERAL different instances as of late describing the very thing you're experiencing.

Apparently BPS is installing valves without performing a proper valve job/seal all the while charging the customer as though it was actually done.

Like mentioned before send them back, refund or whatever but don't install. Have you thought about just doing a head job on your stock heads, you can get the same performance if not better. Depending on what you want. Call cody at SETX and pick his mind he can tell you anything and everything you want to know about heads.

Before everyone gets too far afield on this one..

Please note that the original poster said IF!!! Not that he was actually having or had that problem.... He only used BPS as an example (not sure why and not really fair to B P S or any other company as you can see how the question then became he was having the problem).

This was not a "real" issue and he even later posted that he was not having the issue... I guess he was just seeking information "in case"....
