Post subject:  Motor Seize Help????

I have a 35 hp Go Devil SD. I had to replace my crankcase cover as my cover gear had broke. I have replaced the gasket a couple of times so I have become adept at taking everything apart and putting it back together. Well, this evening I put the new crankcase cover on and assembled everything like in the past. Started the engine and it ran well for about 30 seconds and then the motor seized up and I can't get the cranckcase cover off to save my life as it won't come off!! Any input would be helpful!
Thanks,
Tim

Did you have oil in the engine?

Yes I had oil in the engine. It ran fine like I said for about 30 seconds or so and then seized up and I can't get the crankcase cover off to save my life.

can you turn the prop by hand? Turn it opposite of the motor rotation, and see if that will allow you to get the cover off.

I cannot turn the prop at all. My neighbor runs a small engine repair shop and is coming over this evening to look at it for me. I will post the results.

One other aspect that I forgot to post least night as I was a little pissed is that when I drained the oil before trying to remove the crankcase cover, the oil looked like coffee with cream which isn't good at all as it was brand new synthetic oil that I had put in before cranking it over. I keep it in my garage and have not run it since last January.

That was probably just the mixture of the 2 different oils.

Was it a swirled ice cream look?

Yes it was a swirl color.

I cannot even budge the prop as it is locked like a drum.

How tight did you have the belt tension?

I have the belt tension gauge that I got from GD and tightened it up to the correct tension like always.

Loosen belt could have seized pully or lower unit if not remove plugs and front cover and put socket and breaker bar and try to bump it back and forth.
