Hey there just got a 2010 GTR35 with the commercial Vanguard. Went gigging last night and was idiling for quite some time. The spotlight got dim so we figured something was wrong and disconnected everything. Once we got back to the dock and cut off the motor it wouldn't turn over again. Guy I got the motor from says the batteries like new. Gator Tail said since it's commercial the motor won't charge the battery, unless it's around 2000rpms. Anyone have any issues like this? if so any solutions? Was thinking an Optima battery might hold a charge longer... |

Unless it's the marine (cdi) engine, it doesn't charge the battery until around 2500-2600 rpm, so if you were just idling around with a spot light constantly running, you drained the battery. If that's the way you will normally use the boat, look into a led spotlight instead of halogen, also start bringing a spare battery with you. |

I had the same issue and i had to get a seperate deep cycle battery to run my Q beam, winch, and trolling motor. Now I only run my headlights and running lights on the starting battery and when i notice they are getting dim while im idling i just go for a 10 - 15 minute ride down the bayou at full speed and charge it up for a nother hour and a half or so of lights then repeat when they start getting dim again. I also started keeping some jumper cables in the boat so if i need to i can give myself a jump with the deep cycle battery. |

Thanks for the suggestions. Ended up getting an Optima for the starter battery. Now I'll have 3 batteries on board hopefully I don't kill all 3! |
