Motor Running Rich After Valve adjustment
I just set my valves on my BD 4500 the other day. they were way out. .008 on the intake and .015 on the exhaust. I set them all to .006. Since the adjustment I have notice that my motor seams to be running rich. Plugs are black, and if I run for a while, shut it down, then try and start it a couple minutes later, it is hard to start. Is this a common thing? how would I go about adjusting my carb to lean it out a bit?

What was wrong before you "fixed" it?

Yeah, I saw where you posted that but the motor wasn't running like shit before you messed with it, right? What else has changed?

Re: Motor Running Rich After Valve adjustment
if you set your valve lash to exact specs. i would think that your rich problem was already present.you might be just noticing it after the fact. i would rejet your carb install new plugs and run a test on it.

Re: Motor Running Rich After Valve adjustment
No problem other than a little clatter...set valves...PROBLEMS... Only one thing changed on this motor to make it start running like shit...I'd start with rechecking the only thing that changed... Think simple, stupid!
