I bought my 23 gtr new this time last year, got 90 hrs on it so far and i love it but with a load its just not enough. So my question is should i do some mods or can i by a 35 marine vanguard and put in on my gtr frame. found a 35 new on line for 2600. just wanted to get some feedback. thanks for any help

I was thinking about doin the same when I had my 23. U have to change pulleys and like 2 other things if I remember correct. I just found it easier to get a 35. And as far as mods go u can do the works like dgurity ,or however u spell it, you will haul ass but I don't think you'll have the load carrying ability. I don't regret a day by switching to a 35.

I have a buddy that always is bugging me to sell him my 23HD Sport. If you do decide to sell let me know. I've been thinking of switching to the dark side If he buys mine I've got the cash to go with the sale money to buy yours. First off, where ya located?

get a 40 kohler, you can get 52 hp out of it with hardly anything.

35- or sell it and buy something with a 35 on it already. You will spend just as much money on modding that thing up as it would be to get a new motor anyway... then you can always mod the 35 later...

Main question is do you hunt anywhere that has hp restrictions. If so, mod. If not, 35

I feel for you man... This is exactly why I went with the 35 straight out.
I did a 24hp kit mud motor last time, spent 3k, got no warrant, support
or parts... It sucked! Large loads were slow to haul, and a wreck on the arms.
I have found every time I try to save some money by purchasing middle or
lower end, I always end up wishing I would have just went with the top gear.
It ALWAYS turns out as a wate of time and money... ALWAYS.
It would have been nice to use that 3 grand on my GTR and skipped all the other BS

Small boat....23 with my mods just right...haul ass and carry load. Small boat with 35....too heavy too much.

man thanks for the all the response i am more confused now than before I dont hunt any where that has a hp restriction just really need more power and figured the 35 was the way to go but didnt want to get a new motor and then read a post about a bad ass 23 with mods out running a stock 35.....anybody running a short transom 35?

If you spend enough money to truly get the 23 rolling like a 35(all things considered, load carrying, speed, and performance in the shit) you will have spent enough to buy the 35 and you are kinda at the end of the road. If you take that money and buy the 35, you still have a lot of power on the table that you can get to if you need (or want) it later down the road.

Your better off selling ur 23 and take the $2600 you were going to spend on the 35 and buy you a new setup. Just my .2

ok you guys got me talked in to a 35gtr. Chit is going to hit the fan at my house when my wife finds out "we" need a another MM.

Put a Generac on it. Same weight as a 23 but power of a 35. $600 cheaper than a 35 as well and no leaky crank case cover.

How much does the genarc weigh can't find any info on them
