Post subject: | 23 Vanguard Kill Switch |
I just purchased a brand new 23vanguard and I need to know which wire to connect my kill switch to. I know how to wire the rest of the switch, just need to know which wire to hook it to. I don't want to fry this engine.. Below is a pic of the side of the engine. If you can't tell me which wire, is there a way to figure it out with a meter? p.s. I used the search feature first and didn't find what I was looking for, so don't be a dick. Thanks |

Behind the fuel filter there is a stud that the black wire hooks to. Put a ring terminal on the wire from the kill switch and attach it to that stud. |

The bolt below the filter (that the brown wire in the pic is hooked to) is a ground. The stud above that (it is behind the filter in that pic) is where the wire from the coils is attached to. |

BoatDR thank you for the explanation....I am new to these engines and don't want to mess anything up. Just so i'm clear, I have one wire attached to the stud that the brown wire is attached to.(It has a yellow boot around the crimp fitting.) It runs to my switch and from my switch, I connect the other wire (its hanging there in the picture) to the stud behind the filter. |

I had the kill switch hooked up and working on my other motor (16hp clone) so when I change motors, I left everything in place. I have 4 terminals on the back of the switch.....do I need to change them with this new engine? |
