Hey there, i have recently bought a gator trax 1744 hunt deck with a stock 35 hyperdrive sport. The motor has a little under 15 hrs. I am curious as to the specifics on it. Today i took it out after tweaking my throttle and idle. Out of water at wot I'm getting about 4150 rpms and at idle I'm getting about 1400-1500 (i know is a little high). But my question is what speeds should i be getting. Today with a light load i was running on average 25-26 at around 3950 rpms in the sweet spot. I had seen somewhere that someone was getting about 28 average out of their stock 35. Is there anything i should tweak or look at or is 25-26 about right?

And another thing, after running and the boat being in the water for no more than 20 minutes today, i had a pretty decent amount of water in my hunt deck, thats not right is it?

Any suggestions or answers help.

Thanks, Laiken

1) yes you numbers do sound a little off, maby 1-2 mph, but it could also be due to the fact that your huntdeck was full of water..........and no, you shoundt have any water in the huntdeck. You did have BOTH plugs in the back of the boat, right?

2) your rpms sound fine.

3) Measure the prop. You can destroy a prop in less than 30 minutes if you dont know what you are doing and being that you dont know the exact history, it could just be a worn out prop.

4) If your prop is good, and you got all the water out of the huntdeck and it is still running a couple mph slow, I'd bring it to a Briggs mechanic and ask them to perform a leak down test..........Been seeing alot of valve issues lately.

Oh and 1 more thing, were you running empty or did you have any passengers and gear? or what is a "light load?"

Also, where are the battery and gas tank located? and do you have any other items like a trolling motor and battery installed?

There wasn't quit enough water in the hunt deck to do that much speed loss i didn't think, just a little odd that i had some in there after only maybe 20 minutes. and i measured my prop once i got back and its still in good shape from what i could tell, still measured right at about 12-1/4 or so. My light load is just me, the gas tank is up under the front deck and my battery is in the back with me. No extra trolling battery or troller.

Is there anything else possible I could do or that it could be before I take it somewhere? I'd like to try and mark out every possible option before I go have something done. Thanks

The man that sells a ton of those combo's gave you the list to check off.

You can try moving your fuel to the back and see what it does but a leakdown will tell you a lot.
