New here but have been looking over all of your guys posts about mods for a 35 for a while. I have 2005 35 GT that has ran great for many years but has seemed to loose some of its power over the last couple years. From doing some research on here, i think it might be the valves that are leeking. I obviosly need to get this solved but i would also like to get a little more low end power out of it, so i'm looking at IM heads and a cam. I plan on keeping the stock carb and governer for now, although was curious if i would need to re-jet the carb. Anyway i'm looking for a little feed-back on what i'm looking at doing and if i'm overlooking anything before i place an order. Thanks Im assuming the BPS cams come with new lifters? Should add that i already have an exhaust. |

1) you said that you have lost "power", have you lost rpm's, or speed, or both? And what are your rpms? 2) have you checked the rocker arm clearance lately? 3) If you bought IM heads, no you would not need to re jet your carb. 4) yes, a BPS cam comes with new lifters. Oh and yea, you are probably on the right track in assuming that you are having a valve issue, but it would be best to do some daignostics first before you spend money on something that is not needed..........however a few more hp is always nice to have. ![]() |

My prop is brand new plus if it was worn out the rpm's would go up. At one point rpms would be 4000+ with a empty boat and 3800+ all loaded up. Now its usually 3750 empty and 3500+ loaded. Out of the water or in nuetral its up at 4250 no problem. I have always adjusted or checked the valves at least once a year. |

Check to make sure your carb is opening all the way and you are getting a true full throttle. Something could have stretched over time or moved in the linkage, I'm not familiar with the GT just throwing it out there. |
