I have a 25hp kohler that is propane powered and its on a floor scraper. The problem is, the engine is inside a metal cage, and it doesnt get much air flow, and basically gets hot as fuck, especially when tearing out VCT for 4 hours at a time. So i'm about to change the oil in it and was wondering what would be the best oil to put in it because it gets so hot. Thanks |

How about putting an oil cooler on the out side to keep the engine cooler and not worry about what kinda oil you run. Sure your engine would be happier too. |

Synthetics break down at higher temperatures. What I gathered on it a little while back was prolonged exposure to temps above 250 will rapidly breakdown regular oil. Synthetics, I want to say, are good to the 300 or 350 range? So, I'd say any quality synthetic oil is probably fine. Another oil cooler probably wouldn't hurt either long as you can put it somewhere it wont be damaged. |

I've been using amsoil for about 20 years and couldnt be more satisfied. But regardless of what ever brand you decide on, I'd highly recomend a 100% synthetic (and not a semi synthetic). Per the Kohler, they have hydraulic lifters and can be very sensitive when you get put a heavier weight of oil, but you may want to consider stepping up to a 10 or 15 weigth oil too. |

Would adding float pods or a huntdeck to the back of the machine make it perform better? What speeds are you getting from it now? |

An extra oil cooler would be good if I can find a place to put it. I'm about to rent it out for 2 weeks to a guy and he's gonna have it on the roof of a building and it's going to get hot as fawk. Don't want the motor to blow. |

Engine in a propane power motor won't "blacken" or get dirty either. Just for future reference, a lot of people don't know that. --- I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?zky2k1 |

Synthetic oil. Mobil 1 Extended performance is a 100% synthetic. The normal Mobil 1 isnt a true synthetic. They are able to withstand higher heat without shearing. |

I cant find a good place for an extra oil cooler, everything is in such tight quarters, and if I mount it on the exterior, its gonna get broken off. I guess just find a fully synthetic 15w-30?? |

i run rotella,,, happened to ask the question about this oil to a very well known kawaski engine builder and asked if i can just put that in my atv due to having it laying around all the time caues i use it in my prodrive. he eyes lit up and he told me that oil is one of the best oils he has come accross and runs that in his race engines Supposed to have a lot of the good stuff still in it due to not having to meet some emissions bullshit... |

If you can consistantly get big jobs (1 a month), its plenty to make a living off of. Around here its alot of smaller stuff though. |

Can you mount the cooler on top and make another, smaller cage for it? |

Is it a Ride on floor scrapper? If so you could mount the extra coolerwith fan attacehd up by your propane tank. |

Hell I can't even find the factory oil cooler.... Brinkley yea it is. That would be the only place to mount one. |

if you put a 12v fan moving air over the motor it will help. Get one at least 400 CFM and it will help your motor and electronics. |
