Post Mods for Propane Use
Is anyone aware of mods on Vanguard engines to use Propane?

This may be a good future technology regarding both clean burn and fuel/water issues.

There is a company called Lehr that is now selling this system for small outboards.
They use liquid propane tanks just like a barbeque.
See http://www.golehr.com.

Any thoughts for future mud motor applications ?

Going "green" is cool and propane has an almost
unlimited shelf life --- but --- loosing 25 to 30 percent
of the very limited horsepower in these engines would
be the downfall.....

Yeah like he said to big of power loss. We use to have V8 farm truck that ran on propane and it was a dog. It was a easy change to gas and gave it some power but before we changed it all over we looked it all over and it was a very clean motor for being from the 80s. Just not worth the power loss.I'm not sure how well it would work in low temps either . Never drove our truck to late in winter.

You could build the engine for propane. Higher compression ratio

Maxx,

I agree with your comments. I think this will be in the near future.
Fuel/water issues will no longer be a problem.

Shit if anything else, propane is 1$ a gallon cheaper than unleaded around here... and 3$ a gallon cheaper than aviation fuel.
