Ya. Don't work the best though. If mounted at the surface they will disrupt water flow. I had em on my previous boat. It did not affect the SD at all but I had em mounted an inch above the bottom of the transom so when on plane they wouldn't touch the water. You do loose some buoyancy when mounted that way though.

^^ That's a false statement. You CAN do it. You shouldn't do it is a bit more accurate.
Is yer boat ass heavy er somethin? Why do ya feel the need fer pods?

Re: can you put pods on your boat with a surface drive?
Am I the only other one that saw what size his boat is??? 16/36, so no pods are NOT an option for him, because they'd have to be like 6-8" wide at most.
Honestly, your best bang would be selling it & buying a lil bigger boat (either go longer or wider)

Re: can you put pods on your boat with a surface drive?
An outboard doesn't weigh as much as a mud motor, so an 8" wide pod will float it better. It wouldn't have enough bouyancy to have much positive effect for a mud motor, but would yield considerable negative effect because of the water disruption.
