Why do you think it needs adjustment? What are your symptoms?

It kills when I put it in gear.

What does it idle at out of gear? If you give it a little gas, it stays running?

1100 - 1200 out of gear, yes it stays running.

That sounds about right. How high are you having to rev it up to keep it running? Has it ever run properly?

If it has run properly before, I would start with a good cleaning. Drop the bowl, remove the jets, clean them out real well.

Deadbird8 has posted pictures of the linkage and how to adjust the carb on a bunch of different posts. If a good cleaning doesn't help you out, you may dig through some of his posts and see if you can find any help there. Keywords, governor, black caps, adjustment, adjust, etc.

Has this been happening since the motor was new or did it just start?

A couple of things to try- First, the black caps on the top of the carb adjust the idle air mix on each cylinder. There are limiters on the caps so you have a small range to adjust them. Make note of the position of the screw on each side and adjust them with a small screwdriver so idle smooth. If idle is already smooth and the motor doesn't kill when you come off the throttle quickly then adjust the governed idle spring.

Try bending this tab a little (minor adjustment). It puts tension on the governed idle spring which sets the low point the throttle will drop when put under instantaneous load. Doing it while on the water allows you to test immediately so bring gloves (muffler is hot) and a tool to bend it (long needle nose).
