I have a 2012 ProDrive 36 that will not start. It was running good and just died. The motor spins over good. I checked the kill switch it is good. I checked the battery it is good. I pulled both spark plugs and grounded them to the block and there is no spark on both of them. The motor has 26 hrs on it. |

Check the green wire on the oil pressure switch under your oil filter. |

I have checked the fuel vent and hose both are good . This engine does not have a oil pressure switch that I can find. It has a pipe plug where the switch should be installed. |

Loose connection, blown fuse, bad kill switch, or bad ignition switch. After you make sure fuse is good & no loose connections, disconnect the kill switch (not pull lanyard, actually unplug wires to it) & try again. If it starts, you got bad kill switch, if not, it's bad ignition switch. |

Does anybody know where the wires for the kill switch go on the engine? I have disconnected the kill switch on the console and still no fire. |

There is a fuse coming from the starter. If it was kill switch it would most likely turn over but you would not get fire |

If you disconnected the kill from the console, you already ruled out the kill switch. Look under your console for an inline fuse. If it's blown, you found your problem, but you might look around for loose wires while under there too. |

I assume by console you mean you have a cc rig, huh? |

Yes it is a CC. I found the fuse under the console. It is good and all connections are tight. I did find out that if you pull that fuse the motor will not turn over. My motor turns over good. I just have to find out what is stopping the spark plugs from getting fire. This motor is still under warranty but I would rather find the problem and see if there is another way to repair it better. |

I'm still thinking it's either the key or kill switch or their wiring harnesses |

Thanks for the replys. I have found the problem. Now I have to get it to a lawnmower shop for repairs since it is still under warranty. The wires that ground the coils when the kill switch is pulled were pinched under the top cover and melted. I will put something around these wires to keep it from happening again. |

Common problem. Upon tearing my motor down I discovered that my coil wires had gotten a little toasty as well. I put a bunch of shrink wrap over them. Well see if that helps.. |

How long have you been using shrink wrap and have you checked to see if it is holding up? I'm gonna use some high heat wire insulation that was salvaged from a mercury vapor flood light. If the shrink wrap is holding up I will add it for more protection. |

I have to tear the cover off to do some final torquing now that the motor is semi-broken in.... I will let you know in a week or so when I get around to doing that. Shrink wrap is probobly just a band aid.. |

The heat shrink should help some but from what I found on mine the wires should have had some type of chafing material around them. These wires may be OK for a lawnmower but when these engines are used for boats with out the wires being protected it sure does suck when they ground out and the engine will not start. |
