Dixie Mud Motor honda 13 hp 1442 Alumacraft
Could not find much info on the Dixie mud motor so i will share my build and experiences.
2012 Dixie mud Motor with Honda gx 390 Pull start on an aluminum frame Prop is 9 X 9. The motor is very well made. Ben is a great guy and worked hard to make this happen on time and within my budget. Changed out air filter to a racing filter, then jetted carb to # 118 and added racing exhaust. Tweaked the governor and got an additional 500 rpm. Boat does 24 mph WOT. But that’s taking it to the max. It runs 20 mph all day long (one person) Was going to mill/port the head but not really worth the additional cost and possible hp gains.
My hunting spot is about 12 miles round trip and the 1.7 gallon gas tank looks about ½ full.
Additional work : Constructed transom saver for the mud motor (Works great) Installed mountain bike cables to control the throttle Moved engine kill switch to the front of the handle Cut handle and extended it to fit my boat. Used 30” - ½” pipe from Lowes. Constructed removable grab bar with GPS & Cup(Beer Holder). w/ 24"-90 bend allows me to drive the boat from the top of the rear set, standing or sitting Added aluminum deck and 1/4" foam on top Cut out void space on front deck to create storage Cut out and created storage for my shells under the rear area of the front seat . Added gun holder bracket and beach umbrella holder for mid day sun. Painted bottom with steel flex. Looks like crap but works great Added control panel lights, bulge pump and LED Light Bar Developed neutral start bracket to facilitate starting and warming up Added flag holder. Insert 12’ collapsible fiberglass pole from Bass pro and painted it camo Cost $ 15 Got just under 5k in the boat, new trailer, Mud motor and modifications

Someone asked me about my racing exhaust. I got it from NR Racing. Tons of parts and upgrades for this motor. Also adjusted the governor by trial & error and playing with the throttle linkage.
Another tip that helped me on the throttle cable before I changed it out. Simply spray JB Blaster (Penetrating lube) into the cable. It will loosen it up.
Best of luck.
