Post subject:  I give up lol

Ok guys I posted on here the other day about adjusting the governor. I thought it had already been done (the guy I bought it from said it was turning 4200 out of water and 3800 in water) but after getting my motor mounted and running it my "Tiny Tach" says its only running 1900-2000 rpm WOT out of water. So Im thinking of adjusting the gov. I have searched for about two hours now (internet and MMT forums) on how to adjust the governor and have found nothing. I have a 18hp Vanguard. I am pretty familiar with a wrench however small engines aren't my specialty could someone please point me in the right direction to some step by step instructions or possibly a video on how to adjust the governor?

are you sure that the throttle on the handle is allowing the carb to open fully, would not think the governor would throttle it back that much

I believe so because when its out of the water at WOT it hits like a rev limiter.

Are you sure that your tiny tach is set up right? I think I remember reading that there are different ways to set up to read the spark. I think if it is not set right, you could only be reading 1/2 of your RPMs.

I believe I know wt your problem is its nothing serious on the CDI motor when you hit the high rev (or rev limiter) it throws off the Tiny Tach because the CDi box cuts off the spark for mila second to prevent over reveing. There is a screw on the throttle slide you can turn down to prevent it from hitting the high rev. I hand to readjust my GTR after putting the BPS throttle lever on.
