I'd like to know the same thing. You may try calling Batchelor's Mechanical. I ran into a guy from there a while back that told me they have 35 Vanguards on many of the generators that they sell and service. I don't think they'd service a mud motor, but they may be able to tell you who the best person in the area is for parts and such.

Wilson Dismukes and Alexander Hardware are both briggs dealers here in Mobile, but i couldnt tell you if they will work on it while its mounted on the mudmotor or not.

Call Briggs regional office to find out who is certified to work on the big V-twins (not all are certified). Note that this time of year you are competing with a lot of lawn equipment for service and many of the places don't want to have a boat in their yard.

any lawnmower shops nearby?? i have one about 5min up the road but am also lucky enough to have BoatDr about an hour away but if its something i dont need immediately ill usually wait to see if Andy has/can get it. everyone should remember to support their dealers and especially small Businesses. i promise the extra service is worth the few cents price difference from the chain stores.

Can't support them if they all freak out when it's mounted to a mud motor and not a Dixie chopper etc...

I just don't understand why any of them would care. It's the same damn thing, and it's a lot easier to get to everything than it is when they're inside the framework of a generator or something like that...

Post subject:  Re: briggs dealer

Because they didn't sell it to you, and they could care less. They're not mud motor mechanics, so I'd they get something wrong when they hook it back up to drive, they're up shit creek.

Bout the only way your gonna get Briggs warranty work done by a non mud motor dealer, is just take them the power head. You could prolly get a muffler replaced, but chances are they're not gonna do case gaskets if it's mounted to the drive.

Let me get this straight, did you start a thread to ask us who would work on a mudmotor around here, then find a place on your own and now you won't share that with us??? I hope that's not the case, and you're just offshore or something...

That's weird. I guess the two or three other mudmotors around here must be GTR's if the repair shop works on them "all the time."
