Turns out the brush guard for my mikuni carb was rattling against the top of the carb. Dab of RTV silicone and problem solved. That noise has been driving me nuts all summer and I couldn't figure out wtf it was. Maybe this will help spmebody else with a phantom rattling noise. |

I have a peice of rubber glued to mine so it doesnt rattle. |

mine was doing the same. i reached back there to bend it up and sliced the shit outta my finger. got it bent up out of the way but payed for it. |

I've knocked mine off twice, probably going to build something a with more coverage this winter. The first time I knocked it off I bent the tab where the cable hooks into the top. |

Remove the 2 ports in the carb that have the rubber cap. Tap them, and put an allen head set screw in them. Those ports are not needed and this should be done anyways. Those caps can rot and lean out your motor. |

I like the rain guard idea, I think Dr. Andy should add a way to support the carb a little bit and it would be the shizzle! I ended up doing the Poker1 thing. Cleaned the hell outta the mating surfaces and put rvt on it, then added a bigger clamp. Feels a lot more stable. |

I see it now, that's kind of what I thought but I couldn't figure out how it hooked to the adapter. I didn't think it was a hard connection between the adapter and the carb, seems like something would break with time, basically bypassing the rubber boot, right? In case you're wondering, mine didn't come with any instructions.... ha |

If it didn't have instructions, you should've let Rod know. There's still some flex, because it's still using the rubber boot to mount to. |

I gotcha, it's resting on top of the flange of the rubber boot... I got it second hand before I knew where it actually came from and quit messing with it. I have it figured out now and will go dig it back out of the bin this weekend. Thanks for the pictures and clarifications and sorry for jacking the thread all up. |
