Mandrel bent primaries, 2 separate resonation chambers, a couple of simple baffles inside. Less than $50 for material and maybe 2-3 hours of fab work.

The pipes go inside the chamber, make a 90 deg, and pass each other. They go about 3 inches past center on each side.

Hey med, I think when they swapped servers that thread on your exhaust build got lost. Could you pm me it or text or something? I am wanting to build the same thing just trying to get the inside right. Its got to be better than stock.

one thing I noticed is if you search under author "med" it will show all his post. I just did it. If you search for gutted exhaust, it shows nothing. Could be server related.

But...... in looking at the gutted exhaust, basically you have a completely open exhaust except for the outlet pipe with the small holes. Kinda acts like a baffle. Wonder how it would sound if that were removed also. Then it would be totally free flowing.

My design has 2 separate chambers one for each cylinder. There is plate through the center with holes drilled through it and then a deflector plate on the outlet side of that, that forces that gases out to the perimeter of the tube before it can exit.

mag10, got the drawings, how is the center circle welded in? From the drawing, it looks like both plates and the middle circle are welded together. And how is the inside stuff welded or attached to the endcaps.

They are glass packs I picked them up from jegs $14.00!!
On open water (river) I can be heard a ways away!!
While driving i don't think they are that loud but I'm not on the bussiness end of them plus I angled them to be just a couple inches off the water so not sure if that helps or hurts it on volume.
It will turn heads that's a fact

This is after gutting. In what I got from searching old posts (not sure if they are here now) that if you run the outlet inside the can and 1/2" from the back wall it gives you the needed back pressure. In a post from BayouBoy on the old thread he played with the length of pipe on the outside of the can and that stopped the occasional backfire he got. I have a pd and the outlet curves a little and is a little longer in comparison to say a mudbuddy pipe. I have had zero backfiring issues. It has a good sound and very glad I went this route. When I need another I will do the same thing again.

was this the stock stainless exhaust, did you use stainless mig and helium co2 argon to weld it back up?

It's a stock stainless. I had a guy weld it up. Not sure what he used though.

Is that how it looked when you opened it up, or did you move the outlet back to the 1/2" mark and re-weld?

Post Re: Lets see some custom exhausts
banded,

I welded the internals as a sub weldement and then slipped them in. I made a couple of stitch welds around the center divider on the inside. You could drill some holes and plug weld also. just make sure that you do not have drips of material that could break off and get in the valve train. This is not as big of a deal on a vertical though. When I install the end caps, I just make sure they are seated flush with the internals. I do not usually add any weld between the end caps and the internals, but you could add some plug welds.

It looked like this in the beginning.

I cut all that crap out and the other pic is what it looked like when I got through. The exit pipe came from the factory just like the first pic shows it. Only thing I had to get welded was when putting the end caps back.
