Re: 16hp duramax w/ Electric Start Feedback
We've built 2 mudmotors with them Decent for the money. No mechanical issues but the bolts and covers are soft material so u can strip a bolt off fairly easy but again no mechanical issues at all The last engine I bought was a carroll stream. It is also a honda clone and possibly built by same people but fit and finish is much better but it cost slightly more. Google carroll stream engines to compare

Re: 16hp duramax w/ Electric Start Feedback
surface drive or longtail on the 20 mph speed ? most we could get on longtail was 16 with 1 person and 14 with 2

Re: 16hp duramax w/ Electric Start Feedback
Must have been surface drive cause I can barely hit 17 empty? I just built two longtails with the duromax this past week and I think they are a pretty good engine, When I pulled them out of the box I thought holy crap cause they look HUGE! not bad when you bolt em up though... I run a durostar on my longtail and have not had any problems with it. Heck for the price you can get em at i don't think you can complain too much if they run.

Re: 16hp duramax w/ Electric Start Feedback
^^^
It is a surface drive spinning a 10X8 prop with a 1.5:1 reduction. It was actually hitting 20.8 at about 3950 rpms. I was holding the gps.
Just make sure you do not over-rev these engines. If you play with the governor spring you can get them to turn 4600, but don't!
