A few of you asked me to post and update after I got my boat put together so here it is. I put my home made 18hp surface drive 11x10 prop on my 1648 weldbuilt. The motor is a 18hp vanguard and the frame and lower unit was designed off of a copperhead motor. I put the motor on the boat with a 3 gallon tank, battery and myself 240lbs first run by myself 18mph and second run with me and a buddy weight combined about 470lbs and got 16mph. I went home cut the transom down, cut out the middle seat, put pods on it and a fresh paint job ( I heard mixed emotions about pods on a sd but I had the material and free time so I give it a shot). I went out for a second run by myself I ran constant 19mph and with me and the same buddy we ran a constant 17mph and even hit 18 mph. My only concern is when Im running by myself the only part of the boat that is in the water is about the last three feet of the boat which is a good thing but the water line is halfway up the side so I prob have 8-10 inches of boat in the water in the back even with the pods on the back so my next upgrade I guess is moving the battery and gas tank to the front unless somone else gives me a better idea. Anyways here you go feel free to give me ideas on what I can do to get more speed or maybe get the ass end up out of the water a little more. |

Might try some wedges on the back. It'll help get the front down. Is put my tank and maybe battery in the front first and see what that does. Tapatalk 2 |
