2010 MB 35 Hypersport short to tall transom conversion
Guys, I've tried to search the forum for this subject and cant seem to find how difficult and expensive it is to change a short motor setup to a tall transom setup.
Im getting quotes on getting a new boat built and I was going to have a hunt deck set up for a short transom and then the false transom would be tall and straight across but it just hit me that i should explore this change before i pull the trigger on the boat.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Lectric Duck in AR

Thanks Team, I'll give them a call on Monday to check on the parts. I think it's worth the 600 if I'm building a new boat

If your going with a short transom on the hd why worry about changing it up. The hd will help with the back splash when throttling down.

The change is just Belt (length), clutch housing and cover (2 extra bolts on the clutch cover), outdrive is the same.
Post in the buy/sell portion of this forum as well as the MB forum and others. You may find someone who has done the short to tall conversion and has the parts used and save some $$. Other than the belt, those are not 'high wear' parts so used ones would be fine.

Y would you worry with going to long when u build your boat set it up.perfect for short transom... one advantage of a huntdeck is short transom motor with no backsplash... i dont see what the point of spending extra money for... build the hunt deck to the angle and height ita suppose to be and bolt it on and go...

Re: 2010 MB 35 Hypersport short to tall transom conversion
I've certainly thought about just building a hunt deck to fit the short transom motor (16" or so bracket and then lower 8-9" tall hunt deck). If going that route, i would build the false transom straight across with the sides which will be 21" or so. My concern was the motor and handle would not have enough clearance to travel because it would hit that taller transom as the motor would be sitting lower instead of on the same plane as tall false transom. If nothing else, i thought that the clearance would be reduced. Am i wrong about that? The other reason i thought about building the boat for tall is im probably not keeping this motor long term. It's perfectly fine for now but i have visions of upgrading to reverse in the next few years. figured if i was going to the trouble of building a boat then a 500-800 motor upgrade wasnt that big a deal.
