Called gatortail this morning to discuss a 23 GTR. Was told by the staff that they are not making the 23 that they are going to upgrade to a 25 robin subaru which I like more hp but I know nothing of this brand anyone have one? And yes it is not on there website because I asked the guy when did they change and he said last week. Just wanted reviews on the motor before I spend a lot of money. Thanks.

I like the specs of that engine. Forged crank and roller bearing on the PTO side of the crank.

That is the exact engine in my Bobcat 250 welding machine. Has right at 900 HARD hours on it, has gotten the cylinders filled with rain numerous times because Miller puts crap exhaust on them, and it runs like a champ!! Plugs and oil change two or three times a year since 2004, never had a problem with it.

Not sure about that exact motor but the Subaru on my 5KW generator ran for 4.5 days like a champ.

Those little engines are stout. I think thats a great move! Plus I'm sure they can be modded and hold up a lot better!

The Subaru has more bottom end torque than both the Briggs and Kohler.

Pretty bad ass little engine!

No I wanted to buy a motor under 5000 and was going to buy the 23 because I'm putting it on a 15 42 war which I know is no mud boat but I don't use enough to purchase a new boat. Had a gdlt on it last year but had a bad accident and not putting a lt back on. Was looking at mb but further reading changed my mind to gtr. So now with the new price increase I'm torn if I'm gonna spend that might as well spend grand more. But if I'm gonna get the 35 really need to upgrade boat so know I don't know what to do.

28hp Subaru EFI stock on my boat was faster than my 23hp Vanny with performance cam, decked heads, mikuni carb and high flow muffler. The price point is a steal compared to what my mods cost on top of stock motor. Low end torque (hole shot) and throttle response at all rpm ranges was incredible. Imagine what it might do with the same mods as my 23? It's the new little engine that can! Not affected by impure gasoline, even before you shake the gas tank. Internal specs are far superior to Vanny's. Weight is the same as 23hp Vanny. Fits right into same frame. You can trick out the EFI settings for your preferences but factory settings suitable for broadest rpm spectrum torque specs. Hoyt and Kyle, or Bubba can fill you in with more details. Get you one now.

Think about What a 35 would do.

Never heard of any modds to these motors, are they available? Like the idea of efi. Can't wait to see a video or some reviews of the new engine

Can you see putting a 8-9 thousand $ motor on a mm frame. or how about blowing one up!! We blew a 120 hp motor on our airboat 3 times.

I bet if you put your order in on one of these NEW engines you don't have to wait a year to get it, or sit around without a motor for a whole season, just hoping you get that phone call
