I was wanting to put my battery in the front of my boat, and i was wondering what gauge of wire i should use. Iknow its a simple question, but just wondering what gauge i could get by with. Im running a 27 mini MB. Thanks in advance. |

I have relocated my batteries in the front already. My total run was 22'. If you acutally run the calculations on the potential demand of the starter with an acceptable loss due to resistance it comes out to 2 gauge. Hope this helps. Welding cable is cheaper and highly flexable but offers no corrosion resistance. If you look at the coast guard specs wire must be tinned as well as the terminal ends. Do a search for gary's marine wire. I have purchased a lot of wire from them and they will make up the battery cables with what ever terminal ends you need on them and the price is very reasonable. |
