Is there any other company that offers the kit other than BPS? It is going on a 35 horizontal.

You can't buy a hsr 42 by itself for that much.

I've just been looking around trying to figure out if there was a way to save a few bucks on this kit. I broke down the pricing buying all parts individually and this is what I came up with.

HSR carb- 300
BD intake- 125
Rev limiter- 120
Cable- 18
Filter- 42
Pre filter- 15

For a total of $620. I know I still need the gov block, carb flange, and miscellaneous bolts. I don't think that would total $155 would it?

I have some 5,000rpm rev limiters I could part with and save you a couple extra dollars.

The one that comes in the mikuni have a bigger hole to flow more fuel so change it out to a smaller one so it doesn't flow as much

so basically it sounds like unless you have access to the special needle valve, etc and know the exact part you need to make it work right, for a little over 100.00 bucks more you can get it in a kit put together the way it should operate.

i would imagine by the time you pay shipping from each different place you get the pieces you will be about where the 1 kit price would be

i am only stating this because i was looking to buy it in pieces myself to try to save some money but when it comes down to it, it may not be worth it

You might be making this harder then necessary. The Mikuni carbs are a standard carb used by most aftermarket motorcycle builders not to mention yamaha and Honda. Go to http://www.mikuni.com/fs-carburetor.html go to distributors find one in your area call them " They will not sell to you" but they will tell you a retailer in your area where you can get parts.
I have a HSR42 I can get all the parts I want from a local motorcycle shop
