I have a stock 35 vanguard that won't put out very high rpm's, full throttle I'm getting like 2600, I can idle it up and get about 3600 but my idle rpm's is way too high, how can I throttle it up without idling at 20 mph ( this is all in the water) |

You might have a "dead cylinder" either ignition or compression problem... When running on trailer - pull spark plug wires off one side - if there is little to no change on one side that is the bad side.... |

Is the govenor set right? Is the throttle opening all the way up? Possibly a blown head gasket also. Need a lil more info from you. |

Has it always been like that or is this a new issue? Only 20 hrs, I'd bet it just needs the gov adjusted or the throttle handle isn't making full travel. |

I was gonna say to make sure your getting full travel out of your throttle, otherwise adjust govenor screw. Its not popping or anything when you hold it wide open huh ? what is your ot of water RPMS? |

I'm pretty sure it needs to be adjusted, I opened the throttle all the way up the other day and got 27 out of it, it just idles way too high to, where is the governor and how do you adjust it, I want to run like 4100 rpm's so what should my idle rpm's be |

The only thing I can figure out to adjust is bending the tab that the spring in hooked to or turning the screw that runs through the spring that adjusts idle |

2 different adjustment screws. Gov screw is on back. If you stand on starboard side facing motor, there's a Philips head screw on the linkage running side to side. Clockwise makes rpm higher. Set idle back to 1250 using idle adjustment screw. |

I just went and adjusted it and it idles at about 1300 and at full throttle its only turning 3300 out of water |

The only thing I can see to adjust is thisImageUploadedByTapatalk1347499301.763766.jpg the screw running through the spring( this pic is from the top) |

That's the one you're looking for. The idle adj screw is on starboard side, toward front, where linkage hooks to carb. Also Phillips head, accessible from front. |

Once you have adjusted and its still not enough try bending govenor spring tab in the direction of the arrow, puts more tension on the govenor |
