 Engine problems -2008 Gator-tail 35 GTR
Hi everyone, I sure hope someone here can answer my question. Today, I went teal hunting and my engine was running really slow (1200 rpms) when in the water but once you lift the engine out the water or on the trailer it runs normal (3600 ). I could get the rpms to go up a little when I applied a little choke but still not much better. I'm thinking it's a carburetor problem but I'm not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Chris

Your "normal" 3600 is low also.

Bad gas? Maybe your governor isn't set right

Is it backfiring a lot? And does it sound like both cylinders are firing? Could be a spark plug coil or wire grounding out. ESP if you run salt water. Make sure everything is insulated....if you can run it in the dark, you can often times see where it's arching out at. Also make sure you have a good seal on your carb boot. Lastly check your governor linkage, make sure it's set correctly and hasn't slipped.

That is similar to what mine was doing and it ended up being a junk factory fuel pump on my 24 Honda. Got a fresh pump and good as new.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check out the carb bolts tonight.
