I was wondering if any of y'all had any suggestions on what to check on my motor. Here is what happened. Threw the boat in the water tonight to go try to shoot some fish. 3 people, light rack, genny, and an ice chest with maybe 20 lbs of ice. The boat would not step the load. I've never had an issue with this load before. The motor sounded fine, the only thing I noticed was that one of my dual exhausts was cherry red and blowing about a 4 inch flame the whole time. The other side was glowing red, but no flame.

The motor is a Mud Buddy 4500 black death. Only has about 40 hours on it. Any suggestions??

Check valves, make sure spark plug boots are on the plugs etc.

What west end said...make sure your getting spark. Pull one plug at a time and keep it in the boot while touch the plug to some metal on the motor. You should see it spark. Also run it in the complete dark and see if any thing is arching on your coils or plug wires. If it is this thought you should hear your motor sounding like shit bc it won't fire both cylinders. Check your compression in both valves should be around 200 give or take 20 psi. Be sure your carb boot is attached nice and tight and has a good seal. Was it backfiring or anything? Usually if it's a cylinder not running right bc of compression or spark issue your going to have fuel getting into your exhaust and backfiring a bunch.
