Loose parts in the case :(
Found these today while changing out the crank. Notice some engine whine last time out. Had no idea this was the culprit.
Haven't had time to research what this is, but guessing part if the governor assembly?
And the cam damage. Guess I'll be needing a new one.

Re: Loose parts in the case :(
I there enough stress on the cam gears to warrant a new cam?
Bad thing is I broke into the case a month ago to put a BPS cam in. Should have taken it out then, but wasn't sure what it was as my previous cam install was on a CDI, and I don't remember seeing this contraption in there.

Re: Loose parts in the case :(
It might be ok. But I would put one in for reassurance. Never know if them teeth will stay. All the motors have those governors in there. Unless somebody had already took it out. I've took them out of multiple motors. I drive the shaft out and drill and tap a plug 1/8th npt pipe plug. Coated the threads with red loc tite. Never had one leak yet. Just be sure to take the gov shaft and drive the bushings out too. Make sure you get all the thrust washers too .good luck

Re: Loose parts in the case :(
I think it is retarded to disconnect the governer without taking all that out.
All the people who install Mikuni's over a cam because they don't want to break into the case should reconsider, I'm actually suprised this doesn't happen more often.
Hope you get it figured out.

Re: Loose parts in the case :(
That happens when the gov block isn't installed correctly. Be thankful it's not a new oil pump, piston rod, & crank, like the one sitting outside my shop.
