When I engage the throttle quickly from idle she wants to die? If u ease into it she runs fine. I pulled the air filter And looking at the top of stock cdi Briggs 35 carb, has 2 plastic levers.(seem to be adjustments of sort) correct? They roll up and down. Backfires a lil sometimes as well.
Which I figure was normal. Is the carb allowing to much gas to enter too quickly and flooding?
She idles abt 1060 otw then when u Throttle up and let off the rpms drop to 800 and fall till she dies. Any help

those are mixture screws. if you plugs are black you are running to rich, white- to lean. They almost need a carmel color.

The stock carbs are hard to get TUNED in where you elleminate the flat spot. With headwork, cam, and ajusting idle mix you can help it but it will still be there.
Yes cut the tips off of them and ajust in small increments until you find the best response.

Thanks, is there any way to take the slack out of the throttle cable. Has abt 1 inch of free pull then throttle engages. I looked at the linkage and dam thats a sloppy system lol.

You can also just adjust the tension on the cable & maintain the integrity of the govenor system.

a lot of times that flat spot is your carb set too lean, same thing with the backfire. richen up the idle/low speed circuit a bit and see if it helps
